Fourteen years ago, when we started Yoga Movement, we had a pretty simple idea: to make our yoga about movement, and to make it accessible.
One of the biggest criticisms we received in our early years was that Yoga Movement wasn't "really yoga". And honestly, they weren't wrong. We didn't focus heavily on meditation, rituals or prayer, and we weren't trying to recreate everything people traditionally associated with a yoga practice.
That was intentional.
We believed there were so many benefits you could take from yoga simply through its movement: strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, control, and even a better state of mind. We wanted to create a space where people could experience all of that without feeling obligated to subscribe to everything else that traditionally came with yoga.
That felt particularly relevant in Singapore. We've always been a hustle city, a place that moves quickly. People are busy, simply trying to fit everything into their day. Our job was never to tell people that they needed to change their lives for yoga. It was to figure out how yoga could fit into the lives they were already living.

Fourteen years later, this has not changed.
What has changed quite dramatically, though, is the way people move.
Not only are people working out more than ever, they're also doing more things. Someone might run, strength train, do Pilates, play a sport and still come to yoga. People are a lot more aware of how they move. Mobility, recovery and longevity have also become bigger parts of their routine.
I'm no different. My training regime includes yoga, strength, pilates, surfing and whatever else I am in the mood for. I've never believed that one has to be better than the other. In fact, they are all complementary.
I think yoga is in a special place in the market right now because it makes so many of the other things we love doing feel better.
And that's what has brought us to the next chapter of Yoga Movement.
From 14 September, we're giving our classes a fresh new look and introducing a new Yoga Movement line-up built around how people move today. We're taking the best of our 14 years of experience and curating an offering with clear intention, to ensure your yoga journey with us has a purpose, regardless of your personal goals.

Whether you're stepping onto the mat for the first time, looking to build stronger foundations, wanting to challenge yourself, or simply giving your body the recovery it needs, we want every class to make it clearer why you're there and what you're getting from it.
While working on this refresh, we also realised that meeting people where they're at shouldn't stop with the classes on our schedule. It should extend to how you use them too.
So, we've got some good news to share.
We're introducing longer validity periods across our class packs, giving you more time and flexibility to enjoy your experience with us. We understand that your routine isn't going to look exactly the same every month. Sometimes life simply gets in the way. Sometimes work gets busy. Sometimes you're travelling, training for something else, or perhaps you'd just like to spend some time exploring the world.
Our New Validity Period Effective 1 September 2026
5 Class Pack: 3 Months
10 Class Pack: 6 Months
20 Class Pack: 9 Months

The way people move has changed since we first opened our doors. So we're moving with it.
See you on the mat, YM Fam!
